In UC Davis , 3 D printed mask designed to be used as a cast for a dog’s broken skull were developed by its biomedical engineering students and vet surgeons.

Lately a 4 month old Staffordshire Bull terrier pup existed a special 3D-printed mask. The little canine had a smashed cheekbone, a fractured jawbone and her mandibular joint. Additionally her face and neck had multiple puncture injuries. The poor pup required a very difficult surgery. Thanks god the vet specialists developed the surgery successfully.

After her surgical treatment, Loca attempted her brand-new face mask, a Exo-K9 Exoskeleton, which was developed especially for her by biomedical design trainees at the varsity. The mask helped her jawbone to stay situlated.

UC Davis School wrote on a post in their page: “Loca did incredibly well throughout her 3-day hospitalization,” “She quickly started eating soft food and stayed comfortable on her pain medicines. additionally to the Exo-K9, Loca was fitted with a padded neck bandage to provide stabilization of her neck crack and restrict her range of mobility during the healing process.”

As long as Loca required to wear the mask, she wasn’t permitted to do the stuff what she would normaly do. For example she wasn’t able to eat toys, bones etc. It was also hard for her to eat or drink. She was fed a pap till her injuries would completely heal.
